It’s September and time for our new Pack Theme!

Hi everyone!  Mr. Maloney here for the Cub Master Minute presented by Pack 457 in Zelienople, PA.  It’s a new month and time for us to look at our next Pack Theme.  We’re continuing to look at the Scout Oath this month as we focus on the words TO DO MY DUTY.

What does it mean to DO YOUR DUTY?  A duty is something that you’re expected to do.  Somethings are duties because we’re told we need to do them like following rules and laws or doing our chores.  But things can be our duty even if we haven’t been told to do them…  things like being kind to others and listening to our parents and teachers.

Most of the time, doing our duty is easy, but other times it can be hard to do our duty.  For example, when you see someone being picked on or bullied on the playground, it can be really hard to stick up for them even though we know it’s the right thing to do.  But as Scouts, we promise each time we say the Scout Oath that we will do the right thing…  the thing we’re expected to do even when it is difficult.

So the next time you’re faced with a difficult decision on how to act or behave, think about how you need to DO YOUR DUTY and the right thing, the think you’re expected to do even if it is hard.  I know you’ll make the right decision.

Until next time, stay safe and stay Scouting!
